Select your model. How does HP install software and gather data? Introduction HP Orbit bridges your phone, computer, and tablet to get things done while staying connected.
You also need either an Android device phone or tablet running Android OS 4. Use one of the following methods to start HP Orbit on your computer. Click the HP Orbit icon on the taskbar. Figure : HP Orbit icon on the taskbar. Click Start , and then click All apps in the lower-left corner. Scroll through the list of apps to locate HP Orbit apps are listed in alphabetical order. Click Get Started and follow the on-screen instructions through the startup process. The app will display your code and Wi-Fi network.
Your computer is now ready to pair with your Android or iOS device. Step two: Download and install the Android and iOS apps Use the information in the following sections to download and install either the Android app or the iOS app. Download the Android app Use the following steps to download the Android app to your mobile device. Click the Google Play link from the HP Orbit app on your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Pair your devices Use the following information to pair your Android and iOS devices with the computer.
Pairing your PC and Android device Before attempting to pair your devices, make sure both the computer and the Android device are on the same wireless network. The HP Orbit Android app prompts you to enter the pairing code displayed in the computer app.

Step 4: Transfer between devices Use the following methods to share files between your devices with HP Orbit. Transferring files from the computer With Canvas, you can transfer many types of files, including the following:. Text documents such as Word files.
Drag and drop your files - text documents, spreadsheets, graphics, and media links to videos or music - onto Orbit Canvas. When you drag a file over Canvas, the screen changes and a message appears - Drop files here. Figure : Canvas showing where to drop files. Right-click the file and select Send to Orbit from the menu.
Place the cursor in the Send a link or write a note field. Figure : Send a link or write a note field. Swipe down from the top of the screen to retrieve new shared files, if necessary. Transferring files from the Android device On your Android device, open the HP Orbit app by tapping the icon on the home screen. Tap the Add icon in the lower-right corner of the HP Orbit screen. Tap the Camera icon. Figure : Camera icon. When the transfer is complete, HP Orbit Canvas on the computer shows the new file as a tile on Canvas. If Orbit Canvas is minimized, a pop-up window displays the message Image added… or Text added….

Step 5: Work with your transferred files Use the following information to view, share, save, and delete your transferred files. Viewing transferred files Left-click, right-click, or tap the tile in Canvas to open the file. Choose the app to Open with , if prompted. Figure : Open a shared file for viewing. Deleting transferred files The Orbit canvas is shared across all paired devices.
Deleting content on one device will automatically remove it from all paired devices. Content saved from Orbit canvas to your local device storage such as saving an image to your gallery or to your desktop will not be removed. Computer - To delete a file from Canvas using your computer, right-click a tile on Orbit Canvas and choose Delete from the menu.
Android device - To delete a file from Canvas using your Android device, tap to open the file, and then tap the Recycle bin icon in the upper-right corner. Press Delete again to confirm. Figure : iOS Delete button.
The content is deleted from all connected and paired devices immediately. If the content is not automatically deleted, refresh the app on either device to remove the deleted files from Canvas. Sharing documents from the paired devices You can further share documents from Canvas to other apps on any of your connected devices.
Android device - Sharing from Orbit canvas Use the following information to share a file from Canvas with another app on your Android device. Click or tap the Send menu or Share icon. Figure : Share menu. Follow the Send or Share directions on the screen. Press and hold the file. Select Share from the pop-up menu. Figure : iOS Share menu. Saving transferred files On the computer Orbit Canvas, you can save documents transferred from your Android or iOS device by dragging and dropping them to your desktop or by right-clicking the document tile and choosing Save as… from the menu.
If you plan to access Microsoft Office documents transferred from your computer to your Android or iOS device, you might want to prepare by first downloading the appropriate Microsoft Office apps from the Google Play Store or the App Store. Open the document by tapping its tile on Canvas. Choose the Open with app, if prompted. The document opens in the appropriate Microsoft app, allowing you to use normal Microsoft Office menus.
Open the link in a browser and bookmark it. Choose File. Then choose Save As… to save the transferred documents. Figure : Microsoft Office Save As menu.
